Water shortage is one of the most common problems in the world today. Many countries around the world are suffering from water shortage that is why it is a widespread campaign to conserve water in order to be free from this dilemma. So, how can we conserve water? Take some of the simple water conservation steps below:

Do not let your taps and pipes to have some leak. If you have seen one, fix it immediately because every drop counts and it will allow you to save 140 gallons a week.

When brushing your teeth, avoid using running water. Use a glass instead to avoid wasting your water that continuously running while you are brushing your teeth. Things will be the same to men when they are shaving, letting your water tap open when shaving is obviously a waste of money.

When it comes to your water closet, purchase a water closet with water tanks that allows you to use less water. Many of the manufacturers of today are having a water tank with two buttons, intended for a full flush and half flush. If you are only to flush a small amount of poop or urine, you can opt to flush half of the water tank capacity.

Keep an eye on your water tanks as well. You can do this by putting a food color in you water tanks and if the food color seeps into the bowl without you flushing it, there must be a leak in your water tank. Fix it immediately and it will allow you to save up to 1,000 gallons a month.

When doing your laundry, run your washing machine only when it is already fully loaded. It will not only save you water, but electricity as well.

After doing your laundry, re-using or re-cycling your water can be a big help in conserving water. You can have it use to clean your bathroom, water your plants, flush your water closet, wash you cars, and more.

When washing your car or watering your plants, avoid using a hose, because using a hose will keep the water from flowing even if it is not necessary. If you will use your pail in washing your car and a sprinkler in watering the plants, you only have to use water when needed and eventually avoid waste.

If you have a lawn, better water it early in the morning or evening when the temperature is cooler to avoid faster evaporation.

Do not flush your tissue and drop it in the trash instead and save water every time you do it.

Collect rainwater and use it to clean your bathrooms, wash your clothes and water your plants. You can even drink rainwater if you have cleaned you gutter properly and have a clean rainwater collection system and tool.

Mentioned above are just a few of the many things that we can do to conserve water and save the environment.
